Voltage Optimisation

Voltage optimisation has been in use for well over 25 years with the technology being developed and deployed within the Far East where the unstable electricity supplies deemed it necessary that local voltage optimisation was the only option. Recent years have seen the installation of many basic step down transformers set at a static voltage calculated to suit a sites specific requirement. However, during those years equipment parameters and characteristics have also changed considerably with many items now governed by more voltage sensitive items such as microprocessors, programmable logic controllers etc.

New breeds of voltage optimisation have now been developed some of which utilises Thyristor Controlled Voltage Optimisation others utilising auto transformers the latter more suited to heavy industrial installations. These types of control monitor the voltage fluctuations from the national grid and incorporate a wide voltage input tolerance whilst an intelligent control algorithm provides a constant regulated output. To ensure the system is configured to suite site specific optimum conditions the units are manufactured with a variable output selector.

All vital information such as voltage input and output, load in amps, frequency and percentage reduction is visible via a LCD touch screen display. Connectivity to local Building Management Systems (BMS) is also provided by way of volt free contacts for the provision of alarm transmissions.

Both types of intelligent Voltage Optimisation & Regulation unit is suitable for total building load or individual load circuit applications.

  •  kWh & CO2 Reduction
  • Reduced kVA & Agreed Service Capacity Charges (ASC)
  • Intelligent Voltage Optimisation & Regulation
  • Harmonic Filtration
  • Efficient, Clean & Protected Power Supply
  • Automatic & Manual By-pass Switch

To evaluate a sites voltage management, EMTAC Limited engineers monitor a facilities incoming supplies to evaluate its grid supplied voltage. This is accompanied by a audit of equipment being deployed such as lighting, motor drives, air conditioning etc to evaluate an accurate assessment of what equipment would benefit by operating at a reduced voltage.

We work in association with a UK based manufacturer who construct the equipment to our exacting requirements to suit a customer’s supply characteristics. This is supported by our in-house engineers who carry out installation and planned maintenance of the equipment.
